Palladium complex-catalyzed carbonylation of arylsulfonyl chlorides in the presence of metal alkoxides M(OR)n (M = B, Al, and Ti) gives the corresponding esters along with diaryl disulfides. With metal carboxylates M(OCOR)n (M = Na, K, Ca, Mg, and Zn), the free acids are also obtained. Among the complexes tested as catalyst precursors, PdCl2(PPh3)2 and Pd(PPh3)4 showed good catalytic activity. The reaction could be also completed with Pd(PPh3)4 (0.02 mmol) and Ti(O-i-Pr)4 (2 mmol) at 160 C. However, decreasing the reaction temperature significantly reduced the product yield. While various solvents could be used, except N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), acetonitrile appeared to be one of the most suitable solvents.

A palladium catalyzed tandem protocol for the synthesis of cyclopentene fused heterocycles from diazabicyclic alkenes and ortho-functionalized aryl iodides has been elaborated. This tandem protocol was utilized for the synthesis of a number of cyclopentene fused dihydrobenzofurans and indolines. The reaction can be tuned toward the formation of either 3,4-disubstituted cyclopentenes or cyclopentene fused heterocycles by careful manipulation of the reaction parameters. The reaction was also extended to bicyclic alkenes derived from fulvene, which resulted in the heteroannulation of the azabicyclic system.

Discovery of (2,2′-Bipyridine)dichloropalladium(II)

Related Products of 14871-92-2, Chemistry is the science of change. But why do chemical reactions take place? Why do chemicals react with each other? [Pd(bipy)(py)2](PF6)2 reacts stepwise with excess thiourea to give [Pd(tu)4](PF6)2. The kinetics of the second step, which refers to the replacement of bipyridyl in [Pd(bipy)(tu)2](PF6)2, have been studied in water and in the presence of calf thymus DNA, sodium polyriboadenylate, sodium polyvinylsulfonate or sodium polymetaphosphate at 25 C and pH = 7 and a fixed sodium chloride concentration. The reaction follows a first order course and a plot of kobs against [thio-urea]2 affords a straight line with a small intercept. DNA inhibits the process without altering the rate law. The kobs values decrease systematically on increasing the DNA concentration eventually tending to a limiting value. The values are larger at higher ionic strengths and the other polyanions show similar behaviour. The influence of DNA on the kinetics can be related to steric inhibition caused by noncovalent binding with the complex. Upon interaction with DNA, [Pd(bipy)(tu)2]2+ gives rise to immediate spectroscopic changes in the UV/Vis region as well as induced circular dichroism suggesting that the complex, like similar platinum(II) and palladium(II) species of bipyridyl, intercalates with the double helix. Such a type of interaction hampers the attack of the nucleophile at the metal centre inhibiting the reaction. The decrease in the rate of ligand substitution upon decreasing salt concentration but at a given DNA concentration is due to the influence of ionic strength on the complex-DNA interaction. The reactivity inhibition by single-stranded poly(A), polyvinylsulfonate or polymetaphosphate can be accounted for in terms of self-aggregation of the complex induced by the polyanion. A microwave-assisted method has been developed for the synthesis of tri-substituted pyrazoles via direct N-heterocyclization of hydrazines with metal-acetylacetonate and -dibenzylideneacetonate without using any base or additives. Most importantly, the synthesis of 1-aryl-5-phenyl-3-styryl-1H-pyrazoles was achieved in a single step using hydrochloride salt of various phenylhydrazines and this is the first report for direct construction of these molecules. The reaction medium and microwave conditions play a critical role for their selective product formation during the reaction. The present reaction explored the usage of metal-diketonic complexes as reaction substrates providing acetylacetone and dibenzylideneacetone moieties to directly participate in cyclization with hydrazines to form the corresponding pyrazoles in excellent yields. The present protocol introduces the important N-heterocyclic moieties in the final structures, giving the reaction great applications from a medicinal chemistry perspective, particularly in the late stage modification strategies in drug discovery.

An experimental and theoretical DFT study was carried out on the solution behavior in [D7]DMF for bis-chelate complex [Pd(L) 2](BF4)2·2CH3CN (L = 4-phenyl-1-(2-picolyl)-1,2,3-triazole). In structure of [Pd(L)2] 2+, the central square-planar palladium(II) cation is trans-chelated by two L substrates, each through the pyridine and the triazole N2 nitrogen atoms, forming two six-membered metallacycles. These can adopt boat-like conformations anti-trans-[Pd(L)2]2+ and syn-trans-[Pd(L)2]2+ in which the picolyl methylene carbons are anti or syn, respectively, relative to the palladium coordination plane. In solution, the boat-to-boat inversion at both metallacycles takes place. The conformers are in a dynamic equilibrium, which was monitored by variable-temperature (VT) 1H NMR spectroscopy in the temperature range of 223-353 K. The equilibrium lies on the side of the anti-trans-[Pd(L) 2]2+ conformer and the corresponding reaction enthalpy and entropy is estimated to be 0.6 ± 0.5 kcal mol-1 and 0.8 ± 1 cal mol-1 K-1, respectively. From the full-line-shape analysis of resonances in the VT 1H NMR spectra, the activation enthalpy and activation entropy was determined to be 13.0 ± 0.4 kcal mol-1 and 2.7 ± 1.6 cal mol-1 K -1, respectively. The activation entropy close to zero suggests a nondissociative mechanism for the isomerisation. DFT investigation revealed that the isomerisation proceeds through a one step mechanism with a barrier of 11.40 kcal mol-1. The structures of the syn and anti conformers as well as that of the transition state were characterized. Energy decomposition analysis was carried out in order to explore the origins of the stability difference between the syn and anti isomers.

A one-pot reaction that directly converts dihydrosilanes into silyl ethers of tertiary silanes is reported. Under palladium catalysis, one Si?H bond of the dihydrosilane formally engages in C(sp3)?Si bond formation with a vinyl iodide while the other Si?H bond is transformed into a silyl iodide that undergoes facile alcoholysis with an alcohol. The C?C double bond is reduced in that process. This three-component reaction provides in a single synthetic operation an access to silyl ethers of functionalized and hindered alcohols. Several of those would otherwise be difficult to make but the intermediacy of a highly reactive silyl iodide even allows for tert-butanol to react at room temperature.

Three donor-acceptor polymers based on (3E,7E)-3,7-bis(2-oxoindolin-3-ylidene)benzo-[1,2-b:4,5-b]-difuran-2,6(3H,7H)-dione (BIBDF) and three kinds of dialkylated bithiophenes with head-to-head (HH), head-to-tail (HT), and tail-to-tail (TT) connectivity were synthesized by the Stille coupling reaction. Their photophysical and electrochemical properties, electronic device performance, and microstructure were investigated. We found that the alkyl chains substituted near the thiophene-thiophene connection cause less steric hindrance than those near the BIBDF-thiophene connection. Therefore PBIBDF-HH exhibited the preferred planarity, crystallinity, and molecular orientation, yielding the highest field-effect mobility. A maximum electron mobility of 1.23 cm2 V-1 s-1 and a maximum hole mobility of 0.37 cm2 V-1 s-1 were obtained for PBIBDF-HH-based devices. These results show that the substitution sites on the bithiophene units play an important role in the determination of molecular organization and the resulting device performance.
